|WELCOME TO OUR 2015 EASTER FESTIVAL...||BELOW ARE LINKS TO OUR PAGES...|
About thirty years ago the Lions Club of Rushworth initiated an annual 'Wood Auction' at Easter, auctioning donated trailer loads of firewood to raise funds for distribution to the Rushworth and district community. Then the Rushworth Kindergarten joined with this event to run a large market, also to raise much needed funds. Seven years ago the 'Festival of the Birds' was held in conjuction with these developing Easter events and it was upon these charitable foundations that the Rushworth Easter Heritage Festival was built.
At first, this celebratory gathering occured only on the Easter Saturday each year but, in 2010, the Festival expanded further to include Easter Sunday as a result of the organisation and management contributions by the 'Moora Working Draught Horse Muster'
Nearly all of the clubs and associations in the Rushworth district now take part in the town's annual Easter Festival, in many and various ways, not only to raise operating funds for the following year but also to contribute to the pleasure of the celebration. The Festival is now a firmly established collaboration of community spirit embracing not only the people of the local community but also the many, and very welcome, visitors to the town. Everybody is wholeheartedly welcome at this family-friendly (non-alcoholic) event during which the safety of every child is of paramount community responsibility - except perhaps those above fifty years of age who should have already learned to keep their toes away from under the feet of the horses.
